Deadline tonight!

Hello, remixers! We’ve reached October 9th, the deadline for uploading your stories to the CamelotRemix Collection at the AO3! So far we have stories (or drafts) for 14 out of 30 participants. The posts are looking great (love the funky titles especialy) and the fics [personal profile] netgirl_y2k and I have had a chance to read so far are made of awesome and win. We can’t wait for them to go live.

The rest of you are getting ready to post tonight (or have contacted us to say when you will), right? It looks like we never got around to specifying a time zone, so we’ll wait to until tomorrow to see who still needs a remix and start assigning pinch hitters.

Here’s a link to the posting instructions and here are a few reminders:
  • The AO3 will allow you to keep editing after you submit. If you’re still revising your fic, please go ahead and post your draft now so we mods can see that you’ve written a story and we don’t need to assign a pinch hitter. Fics won’t go public until Wednesday at the earliest (we should have a better idea tomorrow) so you can keep editing until then.

  • Please leave out beta thanks and other potential identifying information from now. You’ll be able to add them in later, after the author reveal.

  • Additional Tags aren’t required but they help readers find your story.

If you are the kind of person who likes shaking the boxes before you open your presents, you can play with filters on the side of the CamelotRemix Works page or take a look at the Additional Tags cloud. If you’re logged in at the AO3 you can also check on your Gifts in the left sidebar to see if a remix of your fic has been posted yet. If you don’t want to have any clue, forget I said anything!

Best of luck to those of you who are rushing to finish your fics and post tonight. Please let us know if there’s anything we can help with!

Hi! I'm so excited for all this! :D Two questions:

1) I think I have mine up as a draft, but I haven't "officially" posted it yet. Can you see mine? Am I checked off? Or do I have to actualfax post it, even though it is REALLY REALLY only a draft still? D:

2) When will this all go live? You've mentioned somewhere that this will depend on the pinch-hitters, but I'd like to know beforehand when I should plan to be done poking at my fic. Could you give us some warning, when you know?

YOU WOULD BE EVEN MORE EXCITED IF YOU COULD SEE WHAT I CAN SEE.

1. You have posted yours as a draft. This means that only you can see it, and you'll have to go back and post it for reals soon. Netgirl and Lilian and I can see the fact that you've posted a draft and how many words it is, but we can't see what those words are, what the pairing is, whether it's displaying the link to the original correctly, etc. So we'd be slightly more comfortable if we could see it, but since we know you and you've been in touch this isn't a big deal, and we know we don't have to get a pinch hitter for your remixee.

2. You should plan to be done poking by Wednesday. The earliest the fics will go live is Wednesday evening, but Thursday morning is more likely, and it might not be until Saturday. We'll update this journal after we talk to pinch hitters and stragglers tomorrow, and we'll warn here when we're getting ready to release the fics. We would like it to be sooner rather than later (BECAUSE THE FICS ARE AWESOME) but it's just really hard to say right now while we're still waiting for a third of them.

That's weird, I thought I gave you two the same privileges. I'm getting it by clicking on the "Manage Items" button from the collection's main page. It gives me a list of all the works with author names and word counts, but not tags or recipient names.

Ohhhhhhhh. Just me being unfamiliar with AO3 then X-D

I think I'll still wait for the reveal to read the fics so I'm not biased by the author names when reccing ;-) (Well I remember one title-author but her writing style is distinct anyway).

Naw, we should be good keeping track of who's got a story (I'm doing that on the google spreadsheet we used for matching, which you also have access to, but you should be able to ignore it with no problem). I was going to ask though if you'd be up for making a list of links to the fics, for posting here and/or at the newsletter. You could do it without looking at the list that has the authors' names. If you'd rather not though Netgirl and I could make it, or we could figure something else out. :)

Oh, we should have a post where people can post links to their (or other people's) recs of CamelotRemix fics. Would be fun to see, esp. prior to the reveal =D

Running late but getting there, I promise! I'll try to upload the draft this evening when Australia is asleep - my 11 yo apparently has no grasp of the concept of a download limit, so we are currently over our limit for the month and the company has restricted us to approximately the same capacity as pre-broadband, although it seems to be slower at peak times and faster very late at night. I can't wait for the 15th, when we get back 21stC access.

'Kay, thanks a lot for letting us know, and good luck with posting. [info]woldy said the AO3 was being finicky for her when she posted last night. I hope that was just an isolated thing and that it goes smoothly for you.
